The Shower

I can't believe it's Friday already! I had planned to get this posted much, much sooner!

So our first shower, a couples shower thrown by four of my parents' friends, was quite awesome. (Thanks Carole, Jeanne, Beth and Peggy!)

It started out with drinks and appetizers (always a great way to start an event). It was the first time my Dad met John's two siblings who were able to come, his sister-in-law and his niece and nephew. My sister had not met any of John's family either. And John's parents had not met any of my parents' friends. (There were about 30-some people there. It was a BIG shower!) Everyone seemed to get along swimmingly and enjoy their wine, crackers, dips and vegetables. (Well, 2-year-old Maria seemed to be most into the chips, which she could juuuust see were on the counter out of reach!)

Following that, we all enjoyed a delicious variety of lasagnas, tasty garlic bread and salad seated all over Carole and David's beautiful house. As guests of honor, John and I dined in the upstairs dining room. Others were in the kitchen, on the deck, in the living room, and it two rooms in the basement. No sooner had I cleaned my plate than the fabulous hostesses came around with coffee and TWO kinds of dessert, plus chocolate-covered strawberries (did someone tell them that chocolate-covered strawberries are my favorite food? because they are. YUM!) I should've gotten some pictures of the food, but I was so enjoying the moment that I didn't remember.

Following dinner, John and I got to open gifts from the most generous of people. I couldn't believe what we got. So many dishes, towels, appliances, our duvet cover ... and much more. We have so many people to thank.

This shower was so much more fun than many showers I have been to. There were no embarrassing games (Thank goodness!) At one of my sister's showers, all of the attendees had to give them marriage advice, so I thought we might have that, but that didn't even happen. It was more like a big party - with gifts for us.

I just feel so blessed to have all these people in my life, and I hope that everyone enjoyed it as much as John and I did.

When I get around to uploading them, there will be more pictures here.
